"social programs" are basicly 95% of the state at this point, it could be argued that even the military is engaged in social programming. It's not even a slippery slope, nothing about it is wholesome and its fuel is the effect of coercion "I don't want to feel uncomfortable so I won't object" that buys the farce and its destructive power grows. Rare (ever?) is the instance that use of force for abstract problems is not political and the result is within the spirit what is good and correct.
